Review and Giveaway: Panda Sweets Pick N Mix 1kg box

(AD - GIFTED) Do you prefer sweets or chocolate? I find it hard to turn down chocolate, but my sweet tooth is definitely for sweets. I love everything from fizzies to sherbets, bon bons to boiled sweets. Did I tell you about the time Father Christmas asked my children if I had been good and my eldest said no, I steal their sweets! It’s so true and I’m not even ashamed. So it’s no surprise I couldn’t say no when Panda Sweets offered me one of their Pick N Mix sweet boxes. They are also providing me a box to win in a giveaway and a 15% discount code so read on to find out more.

Panda Sweets Pick N Mix Review

As a family we used to enjoy heading to the local corner shop to choose pick and mix, but at the moment the idea of letting my children eat food that has been in open containers in busy shops makes my feel queasy. That doesn’t mean we have to miss out though; Panda Sweets sell Pick N Mix boxes containing an impressive kilogram of sugary treats.

Ok you don’t get the fun of picking them yourself, but I doubt children will be too disappointed. The sweets we were sent tasted fresher than ones we might have got in the shops so I’m happy too (they arrive in an airtight bag so they will stay fresh until opened too). If you do want particular sweets they have a choice of over 600 many of which you can get bags of, you can almost see the panda taking large jars off the shelves and hear them tipping them out into the scales. Or is that just me after spending a lot of time in old fashioned sweet shops over the years?

The standard 1kg pick and mix box costs £7.49. We chose to receive the vegan selection to avoid getting chocolate (which my children strangely don’t really eat) which costs £9.99. I considered counting to see roughly how many sweets you get in a 1kg, but I couldn’t stop “sampling” them as I took photographs and I couldn't even tell you how many I ate!

Did I mention I’m on a diet? I considered just adding a kilo of fizzy sweets to my tracker and being done with it, but that wouldn’t be very responsible. These sweets don’t need to be eaten in one sitting and to be honest you would need a lot of you to manage that achievement. They would be great for parties or family gatherings; give me these over a box of Quality Streets any day. I’ll be rationing ours out I think. I have some paper bags and I love to put a few sweets in them for each of my children and take them on days out, then when we are passing a shop and they ask for sweets I have some on hand already.

What’s in the Panda Sweets Pick N Mix?

The nature of the Pick N Mix sweet boxes is that the contents will vary. As well as the standard box they sell: vegan, dairy free, halal, vegetarian, fizzy and (at the right time of year) Christmas boxes.

We had the vegan Pick N Mix sweet box and had at least 16 types of sweets including: vegan marshmallows, fizzy cola bottles, fizzy gummy bears, fizzy jelly chips, fizzy cherries, fizzy jelly fruit slices, jelly coins, jelly hearts, jelly berries, jelly strawbs and jelly tongue painters. The marshmallows are going particularly quickly, I generally prefer mine toasted, but these vegan ones are slightly gooier than normal marshmallows and sooooo good.

It’s a great selection of sweets with enough that everyone can try the different types, but not so many that you will get bored of anything, which is impressive given 1kg of sweets is A LOT. For comparison a bag of fizzy laces in the supermarket is about 70g. Having said that I’m pretty confident we will work through the box before the end of the summer.
