The industry boom was great for everyone. The most accurate statistics aren't out for 2024, but for 2023, Gartner figures showed global beauty market retail sales grew to $446 billion, which was up from 10% in 2022. It's bound to be up more in 2024. By 2028, Gartner predicts the value will increase to $590 billion.
The reason for the immense value increases? The cosmetic insanity. Maybe insanity is the wrong word. It's simply people opening their eyes to the treatments available to them that'll give them confidence boosts and keep them looking younger for longer. People are trying treatments they have never considered before.

Read on to learn why 2024 was such an impactful year.
OK, so some of these are insanity. If we're talking about people losing their minds, the beauty industry did not disappoint in 2024. This year's beauty trends were radical.
Let's start with eyelashes. Eyelashes became glowing works of art, and 'LED' lashes were born. And then there was ear makeup. Glitter and rhinestones made the ears look 'cutesy.'
Then came the downright weird - hairy nail art, we're looking at you. Snail slime face masks also had their moment, and we can actually get on board with that. Disgustingly, there are benefits to the ingredients in snail slimes if you can get over the ick factor.
Who was behind all this? Gen Z and TiKTok. Enough said!
The body care boom is one we love. The trend of buying the best body sprays, body creams and body cleansers went viral - who even are you if you didn't search for the perfect vanilla scent?!
Several businesses definitely profited massively from this. If they sold products containing niacinamide, vitamin C and hyaluronic acid, they were making money.
The latest is acne-fighting sprays and luxurious body serums that, we can't deny, do actually work. It's that Gen Z desire for luxury at a lower price that's putting beauty products into the limelight.
Inclusivity was a movement in 2024.
Expanding the boundaries of shade, enhancing the integration of gender-neutral products and improving the possibilities of creating skincare for different needs grew the beauty industry.
Social movements also influenced the debate. American campaigns like Dove's "Body Confident Sport," together with actions aimed at drawing attention to women's sports, integrated beauty, confidence and empowerment, created a world obsessed with inclusivity and equal rights. You don't look good just for looking's sake, it's a personal representation and the representation of others that sparked the movement.
So, we're all here for cosmetic insanity. Like we said, who said it's a bad thing? Not us! As long as people are going for safe, reliable and trusted services, we don't think there's anything wrong with the new craze of people wanting to look and feel better about themselves!
