(Gifted) Young children love the magic of Christmas, but as they get older it sometimes seems they are intent on seeing through it all. Whether it’s school children telling their friends the big man isn’t real or refusing to believe reindeer can fly it can feel like they don’t want to believe anymore.
As a mum of three however I absolutely know Christmas magic is real. It might not take the same form as my toddlers used to see and it often comes with a lot more hard work, but the older I get the more I try and see the magic in everything around me.
From the sparkling crystals that appear on the grass when I wake up in the morning to seeing my child perform on stage in their nativity, cuddling up on the sofa watching a film by the light of the Christmas tree or the laughing faces as family pull a Christmas cracker and the prize flies through the air landing in the gravy. There is so much magic to see if we look for it. After all there are enough sad, challenging and frustrating things in this world that it is important to slow down enough to enjoy these glimmers of magic.
Which brings me to my latest giveaway. Thanks to Wicked Uncle I have a drone which flies as if by magic to giveaway. Even if you believe the flying can be explained by physics, maybe winning will feel like magic to you?
The Sky Viper Force Drone is controlled using your hands |
Sky Viper Force Hand Controlled LED Drone Review
The Sky Viper Force Hand Controlled Drone makes a great gift for children 6 plus. Unlike most drones there is no remote control to control it. You just charge it up, turn it on using the switch on the bottom and throw it up in the air. If the light is on it will automatically start flying. You can then use your hands to control it. It has sensors so it will change direction when it detects your hand or other surfaces.
The battery on a full charge lasts up to 6 minutes so it won’t keep you busy for long, but it’s a lot of fun while it lasts and then you can plug it in to charge again (includes cable, but USB plug is required).
We have another hand controlled drone, but this one is so much better. It has two speeds and at the standard speed it is actually slow enough you can control it rather than just ducking as it flies around the room bouncing off all the surfaces like the other drone we have.
The drone has two speeds making it easy to learn how to control it |
There are sensors around the edge of the drone which change direction when they detect something |
As well as allowing you to change the direction with your hands the sensors are meant to stop it crashing into things. They are fairly effective, but it depends on the angle the drone is approaching the surface so ours has crashed a few times (without damage). It’s also worth pointing out it's a little noisy, but that’s normal for drones due to the quickly rotating blades.
We have played with various indoor toy drones before and this is my favourite due to the ease of control and the slower speed. It really does feel like magic controlling it simply by moving your hands.
If you would like to buy one head to Wicked Uncle.
