And yet, that’s exactly what happened.
The Point Where I Knew Something Was Off
Somewhere in my early forties, things shifted. It wasn't dramatic, just enough to notice. I wasn’t unwell, but I wasn’t quite myself either. Mornings felt heavier, afternoons dragged, and by the evening I had very little left to give. I kept putting it down to age or to life being busy. You know, all the usual reasons we tell ourselves.
But deep down, I knew something wasn’t quite right. It wasn’t just tiredness, it was a kind of flatness. The sort where even a full night’s sleep doesn’t quite fix the problem.
Why I Started Looking at My Gut
The turning point came when I started reading more about the gut and the microbiome. I hadn’t realised quite how much it influences. It's about more than just digestion, it affects energy, health, mood and even focus. The more I looked into it, the more it made sense. If things aren’t balanced internally, it shows up everywhere else. So I decided to actually do something about it, rather than just accepting it as part of getting older.
What I Changed and What I Added
I started with the basics. I began slowing down with meals and paying more attention to what I was eating. I noticed how different foods made me feel rather than just eating out of habit. But I also wanted something more targeted, something that actually supported the microbiome properly. That’s when I started using Enclave BioActives. What stood out to me was that their approach isn’t just about “taking a supplement”, it’s about supporting the microbiome as a whole. Their formulations are designed to restore balance in the gut using a combination of natural, research backed ingredients that are easier for the body to absorb.
I began with their gut-focused support, mainly because I wanted to deal with the underlying cause rather than just symptoms like bloating or discomfort.
The Part That Surprised Me Most
But what I didn’t expect was the shift in my energy. It wasn’t sudden or dramatic, rather it was gradual, but noticeable. I started waking up feeling clearer. That mid-afternoon dip I had accepted as normal became less intense, and some days it didn’t happen at all.
From what I understand now, it makes sense. The gut microbiome plays a role in how we process nutrients and how our body produces and regulates energy. When things are more balanced, everything else seems to follow. Even specific support, like improving gut bacteria and digestion, has been linked with better energy levels overall, which is something I’ve genuinely felt myself.
It Wasn’t About Doing Everything Perfectly
One thing I’ve learned through all of this is that it isn’t about being perfect. I still have days where I eat things that healthy, or skip routines that I know help. But the difference now is that I have a baseline that feels much better than it used to. It’s more about consistency than perfection. What I’d Say to Anyone Over 40
If there’s one thing I wish I had paid attention to earlier, it’s this:We tend to look at energy as something we need to “push through”. We try to fix it with more coffee or more willpower. But sometimes, it’s not about pushing harder. It’s about looking a bit deeper. For me, that started with my gut. And unexpectedly, that’s what helped me feel more like myself again.
