Review and Giveaway: Sensse Deep Pore Suction Cleanser

I knew things would change after the birth of my second child, but I didn’t expect one of those changes to be the amount of make up I wear. Before her birth I wouldn’t be seen out of the house without mascara, eyeliner, foundation and concealer, but on several occasions recently I have glanced in the mirror at the end of the day and noticed I forgot to put any make up on.

It might be that I have no time, more distractions, less mirrors or that I’m just letting myself go, whatever the reason wearing less make up means looking after my skin has become more important because I’m not covering up my spots. Yes that’s right, I’m in my mid-thirties and I still have spots, how is that fair? I was given the chance to review a Deep Pore Suction Cleanser from Sensse and I thought it sounded like a great way to try and improve my skin. If you like the sound of it there is also a giveaway to win one for yourself at the end of this post.

The cleanser, the lid, 3 clear attachments and a USB charging base

My skin is “combination” skin, by which I mean I get a bit of everything: dry skin, big pores, spots, blackheads and it can be sensitive too. Many products I’ve used to try and tackle my spots and blackheads have made my skin red and angry, which isn’t any easier to cover up than the spots. After using the Deep Pore Cleanser for a couple of weeks I’ve not experienced any problems and I think my skin is improving too. I’ll provide an update when I’ve been using it for another month, but currently it’s looking good.

What Does the Sensse Deep Pore Suction Cleanser Do?

When I recently misplaced it I asked my partner if he knew where my face sucker thingy was, which gives you a clue about what it does. It’s like a little vacuum cleaner you move around on your face so it can pull out everything which makes your face dirty and likely to get spots.

In a more romanticised description the box says:
“A gentle yet powerful cleanser that removes pore clogging dead skins cells. The Sensse Deep Pore Suction Cleanser instantly lifts excess oil and impurities. Go one step further and use the mist nozzle for deep and thorough cleansing to unclog stubborn pores and leave your skin feeling squeaky clean.”

Inside the stylish white box with rose gold logo you’ll find the cleanser (also white and rose gold), a coordinated charging base (with USB plug), 3 attachments, a lid and a user guide. The device should be charged for 6 hours before first use and you can tell when it’s fully charged because all 3 lights on it light up. They lit up pretty much straight away after I plugged it in, but I still left it for the 6 hours just in case it made a difference.

First use of the Sensse Deep Pore Suction Cleanser

I cleaned my face to remove any make up, as advised, then filled up the water tank. There is a little rubber plug which pulls out so you can fill up a small water tank for the “mist nozzle”. I then chose the black head attachment and pushed it on. There is also a small suction head for sensitive and delicate areas and a big suction head for stronger suction on larger areas (the black head attachments is to remove black or white heads).

I pressed the button and nothing happened, I pressed it again and nothing, I checked the instructions, pushed the power button again (this time for a few seconds) and it came to life squirting me in the eye with the mist nozzle. A fine mist is sprayed whenever the suction head isn’t fully connected to your face (sucking in air obviously allows it to spray out the water) so I recommend turning it on when you have the attachment on your face and being very careful near your eyes.

There are 3 intensity levels you can try with the low speed automatically selected when you turn it on. Pressing the power button makes it cycle through the different intensities ie. press once for medium, twice for high and three times to go back to low. You are advised to use it for 3 minutes (and not longer) and not to keep it on the same area for more than 2 seconds. To turn it off you need to hold down the power button and then you need to clean the attachment.

What is the Sensse Deep Poor Suction Cleanser Like To Use?

The device is light, looks stylish and is comfortable to hold. I didn’t find it painful and although my skin was slightly red afterwards it calmed down quickly. It takes a bit of practice to hold it flat against your skin and not accidentally spray yourself, although if you don’t want to use the mist nozzle at all you don’t need to fit the water tank.

The cleanser didn’t remove every black head and unblock every pore on my face, but it did unblock any which I would have been able to remove by squeezing, without the damage my nails cause to my face. It’s recommended you use it 3 times a week and I will keep using it to see how my skin improves long term.

The charge lasts well and I had enough from the first charge for a couple of weeks worth of uses.

Tips For Use

It works better when my pores are open so I prefer to use it after a shower, you could use it in the shower if you want, but I find it easier to be looking in the mirror.

Afterwards you will want to shrink or close your pores before moisturiser and make up or the pores are likely to get clogged again. I find splashing cold water on my face is a great way to do that.

Use a cotton bud or small brush to clean the attachment, I found it a bit fiddly to clean with just water and my fingers.

What Did I Think Of The Deep Pore Suction Cleanser?

The Sensse Deep Poor Suction Cleanser hasn’t transformed my skin (yet), but the areas where I have lots of blocked pores (e.g. around my nose) are looking clearer. Using the cleanser on my spots instead of squeezing them does less damage and seems to help the spots to heal faster. It’s disappointing that it can’t unclog all of my blackheads, but I guess sometimes they just aren’t ready. I will be continuing to use it as part of my “beauty routine” because it doesn’t take long and it helps my skin look a bit clearer.

  3. I'm with you on the "issues". I swapped out my moisturisers for pure argan oil and found it made the world of difference. Not perfect, nothing is, but using it under makeup also stopped my pores getting too clogged.

  4. This sounds great-I wonder if they do something similar for lymphoedema? (I'm a sufferer of both lymphoedema and lipoedema)
