This morning I went to the Dream Toys event for 2016. This exciting event showcases some of the best toys around and predicts what they expect the top sellers to be for Christmas. The list is decided by a panel of leading toy retailers in the UK.
The top 12 identified as Dream Toys for Christmas 2016 (in no particular order and with RRP) are:
Shopkins Chef Club Hot Spot Kitchen Flair Leisure Products 24.99
Snuggles My Dream Puppy Character Options 49.99
Nerf N-Strike Elite Hyperfire Hasbro 49.99
Speak Out Hasbro 19.99
Silly Sausage John Adams 19.99
Friends Amusement Park Roller Coaster Lego 89.99
Star Wars Rebel U-Wing Fighter Lego 69.99
Hot Wheels Ultimate Garage Mattel 89.99
Thomas & Friends TrackMaster Sky-High Bridge Jump Mattel 99.99
Hatchimals Spin Master Toys 59.99
Paw Patrol Air Patroller Spin Master Toys 39.99
SelfieMic Worlds Apart 19.99
I spotted a number of other toys at the event which I love and I think they will be making their way on to our wish list to open Christmas morning.
My top 10 are:
Frozen Northern Lights Elsa Jakks Pacific £38.99
She lights up, she sings and you can change the colours by waving your hand. M has already spotted this in the shops and asked for it for Christmas.
Soggy Doggy John Adams £19.99
I think the whole family will enjoy this game where you get to wash the dog and it shakes dry over everyone.
Disney Tsum Tsum Toy Shop Playset Zuru - Geemac £24.99
Tsum Tsum's in all their forms are hugely popular due to the cute little characters. I can see M playing with this toy shop in the squishie range for hours.
My Little Pony Explore Equestria Crystal Empire Castle Hasbro £41.99
We have a very big My Little Pony Fan in this house and this gorgeous castle would provide a brilliant backdrop for them to play. I wonder if Elsa will come visit too?
Trolls Poppy Style Station Flair Leisure Products £24.99
A super cute take on those hairdresser heads, this troll might save my hair from being decorated.
Furby Connect Hasbro £99.99
Furbies are reaching a new generation in a smarter, more interactive way. I had one when I was small and I have a soft spot for these chatty fur balls.
Toot-Toot Drivers Gold Mine Train Set VTech Electronics £52.99
The latest set to join the Toot-Toot team is this gold mine train set. Build the track and the train will chug around and even introduces early language skills when it stops at the SmartPoints.
Weebles Paw Patrol Pull & Play Seal Island Playset Character Options £29.99 and characters £6.99
G remembers Weebles from his youth and M loves Paw Patrol so these characters are eyed up whenever we are in toy shops.
Project Mc2 Experiment Dolls (£24.99) and Project Mc2 H2O Remote Control Car (£59.99)
These dolls are really great role models for children and they encourage science activities. The car even runs on steam (kind of, you add water and it completes a circuit, but you get steam out the exhaust). I think I'll be persuading M to trade in a few of her princess dolls.
Kidizoom Selfie Cam Vtech Electronics £49.99
We bought the Kidizoom camera several years ago, this much small selfie cam has similar features (eg special effects), but in a much small model on the end of a selfie stick. We frequently take selfies with my phone, but this would be great for M to use herself.
I found it hard to limit myself to just these 10 as there are so many great toys available at the moment. Lots of these toys are short on stock already so if you were thinking of getting any of them before Christmas I recommend grabbing them soon.
If you want to explore the full list of Toys identified as Dream Toys for Christmas 2016 they've launched a DreamToys 2016 App or you can find information on the Toy Retailer's Association website.
Disclosure: The links in this post are affiliate links to Amazon, if you click on them and buy the item I might get a referral fee from Amazon, which can go towards me buying the toys. So that would be nice.
The prices stated in this post are the recommended retail price, but many of the toys are heavily reduced in the run up to Christmas. Look for the bargains.
