What Is A Mattress Topper?

A mattress topper is a removable bedding accessory that you can add on top of your mattress to provide an extra layer of support and comfort. They can be made from a variety of materials including: foam, memory foam, latex, wool and down feathers.

Why Use A Mattress Topper?

One of the most common reasons to use a mattress topper is to improve the comfort of an older or worn out mattress. Over time mattresses can lose their support and comfort which can lead to a bad night's sleep. A mattress topper can help to alleviate these issues by providing a softer and more supportive surface to sleep on.

Another reason why people may choose to use a mattress topper is to customise the firmness or feel of their mattress. If you have ever felt the disappointment of buying an expensive new mattress only to discover you don’t find it comfortable then a mattress topper might be the answer (although next time it’s worth buying your mattress from a company like Simba that offers a money back guarantee if it isn’t right for you).  A mattress topper can help to adjust the level of firmness to better suit your preferences.

Mattress toppers can also help make a mattress last longer. By adding an extra layer of protection between the body and the mattress, a topper can help to prevent wear and tear and extend the lifespan of the mattress. This can be particularly beneficial if you have bought a high quality mattress and want to ensure that it stays in good condition for as long as possible.

Why Buy The Simba Hybrid® Mattress Topper?

Key facts:

  • It is 6.5 cm deep when fully expanded (this can take 24 hours from opening the box).
  • The base is covered in an anti-slip texture and the straps in each corner keep it securely in place.
  • You can help keep it fresh thanks to the removable, washable cover (although you may still want to use a mattress protector on top).
  • It comes with a 10 year guarantee against faults.

The Simba Hybrid® Topper comprises of 4 layers which form it's 6.5cm thickness surrounded by the washable cover and closed by a zip. The top layer is a supersoft, breathable sleep surface, under this is a foam comfort layer (made with fresh Simbatex® foam), then there is a support layer with up to 2500 Aerocoil® micro springs and finally you have a high density Certipur® foam base.

The key thing to note here is that the Simbatex® foam has better airflow than standard memory foam so helps dissipate heat. If in the past you have found memory foam too hot at night, then this is a great alternative.

The Hybrid® toppers easily roll up for storage so they don’t have to just be used on your regular bed; you can make any bed more comfortable. If you have a sofa bed for instance you can quickly unroll your mattress topper and make sure your guests sleep gets an upgrade. Although it’s not recommended to keep it rolled up for extended periods, the handy corner straps will help keep it rolled up.

With the addition of a mattress topper you will be surprised by just how comfortable your bed becomes.

Tips:

  • If you are sensitive to smell you might want to give the topper a chance to breathe as initially there is a new mattress smell.
  • If your sheets were tight on your mattress before using the mattress topper you will need to get extra stretchy or fitted sheets designed for a deep mattress so they accommodate the extra depth.
