Num Noms Smoothie Movie Night and the Snackables Silly Shakes Maker Review

Recently my eldest and I haven’t been getting on that well. Her behaviour is always worse when she is worried about things, but she doesn’t easily open up and talk to me about what is bothering her. There has been a lot of shouting and foot stamping over the last few weeks. I knew we needed to spend some time together to sort things out so it was good timing that we were sent everything we needed to have a Num Noms Smoothie Movie Night. M and I had a lot of fun playing with the Num Noms Snackables Silly Shakes Maker before getting changes into PJs and cuddling up on the sofa to watch a film. It’s amazing what some quality time and having a laugh can do for the relationship with your children.

The Num Noms Snackables Silly Shakes Maker

The Silly Shakes Maker is basically a fun way to make colourful slime. The station comes with a pot of clear slime which you can add colouring, glitter and confetti to using the playset. It was interesting to see my daughter experimenting with mixing the different bits together and seeing the impact of different amounts of colouring.

We didn’t always find the instructions the easiest to follow (as you will see if you watch our YouTube video) and most of that was because the instructions are quite small. You can also find the instructions online and I found those pictures easier because they were in a clearer print and you can zoom in. You could probably guess how to do it all without the instructions, but I wanted to follow them fully on our first attempt rather than risk making a mistake. Once we knew what we were doing M found it really easy to make her subsequent creations.

M hasn’t really played with slime before because I tend to avoid anything too messy with a toddler around. I know our toddler would love it, but I don’t want to be Googling “how to remove slime from clothes, sofas, hair” etc etc. The set isn’t suitable for children under 3 years and you are advised not to touch your hands or mouth during use so I'm keeping my not quite 3 year old away. It is also worth telling your child when it comes out of the box that none of it is edible because they might find the language (silly shakes, flavours etc) confusing.

This is a fun activity for any Num Noms fan and you can play with the slime/ silly shakes you create for some time afterwards as long as you put it away carefully in it’s pots after each play session. Keeping the slime in the fridge should prolong it’s life.

What is in the Num Noms Snackables Silly Shakes Maker Station Box?

The Silly Shakes Maker playset is like a kitchen with pretend cupboards on the front, a mixing bowl and shelves. You get 3 empty silly shake cups with lids to store your finished slime shakes in, 3 turn bottles that help you get the slime into the cups, a squeeze tool and a spatula. Then there are the slime ingredients: clear slime, the scented (and coloured) flavours of strawberry and blueberry, a bottle of white glitter and a bottle of confetti. As an extra bonus you get a special edition Num too.

Is it worth buying the Silly Shakes Maker Playset just to mix together some slime?

You could make colourful slime without the Silly Shakes Maker, but the playset makes it more fun. The pot of clear slime is large enough that you should be able to make quite a few silly shakes and when used up you could always make more silly shakes with different slime. The playset is also fun for pretend play eg they can pretend to work in a cafe making shakes etc in the same way children would play with anything without actual ingredients, so there is definitely more life to the set than just making slime.

After seeing the Num Noms Snackables Silly Shakes Maker in the shops my 7 year old was excited to test it out and she wasn’t disappointed.

Thank you Num Noms for some fun quality time with my eldest daughter.
