Why Singapore Is A Great Place To Take An Exotic Holiday With Children

I love to go on holidays in the UK with my children, but as they get older there is a growing appeal of travelling to far away, warm locations. Going somewhere we know that the weather will be reliable and there will be new cultures and experiences for us all. If you are looking for a place to visit that is exotic, captivating and fascinating, as well as kid-friendly then the city state of Singapore may tick all your boxes. Find out why Singapore is so well suited to families in this post.

Getting To Singapore

One of the main reasons that Singapore is ideal is that you can fly there direct from the UK. The flight is a long 13 hours, which isn't too bad compared to some other long haul destinations, but could still be a worry to many parents. Hopefully the children will sleep for some of the journey and then there is the inflight entertainment (films) to keep them busy. It's always good to pack plenty of toys, games, and treats to keep them amused as well, you will know what sort of things will keep your children entertained for long periods best.

Accommodation

Another reason that Singapore is such a good choice for a break with the kids is due to the wide range of reasonably priced accommodation options available. Of course there are posh hotels as you would expect in any major city, but something that can work particularly well for a family is to rent a room or property instead as then you have access to all the facilities you would in your own home, something that can make your stay a lot less stressful.

Luckily, finding a room for rent in Singapore is not a difficult job. This is because there are plenty of places with access to fantastic facilities such as swimming pools at a very reasonable price. Many rooms and apartments for rent in Singapore have access to swimming pools included.

Kid-friendly activities in Singapore

There are so many choices for things to do with families when you are in Singapore, below is just a few ideas

DUCK tour on Marina Bay

One activity you might consider is the duck boat tours that travels around Marina Bay. Kids will absolutely love this crazy boat that can not only drive on dry land but go in the water as well.  It's great for parents too because not only does it provide the opportunity to see the famous Merlion fountain in Marina Bay, but also tours the key sites in the Colonial District as well.

Kidzania Singapore

If you are looking for something that is fun and will keep the kids entertained for a day then the marvellous Kidzania Singapore, located at 31 Beach View #01-01/02 Singapore 098008 is worth a visit. It is easily accessible by train, bus, and tram as making getting there easy, even if you choose not to rent a car during your stay.

Like the one in London Kidzania is an amazing experience for children and it combines an educational experience and a theme park. The main idea is to give the little ones an opportunity to role play different careers in a city that is built specially for kids. They get to actually have hands on experience with working equipment in a safe and fun environment.

Kidzania is a genuinely immersive experience too, as everything is designed and built in kids sizes, and the kids definitely get a sense of being in charge of their own destiny. There is even a currency unique to Kidzania which can be a lot of fun for them to use as well.

Waterparks

The weather can be hot in Singapore which means a day at a water park can be a lot of fun. There are are lots of great water parks in the Singapore area for example, there is the Adventure Cove Waterpark located at 8 Sentosa Gateway Sentosa Island. There you will find many enjoyable flume rides, along with the opportunity to interact with marine life such as in Mantaray Bay, or Rainbow Reef where you can snorkel safely as a family. There are even some lazy river rides that go underneath aquarium tunnels too. Perfect for any little ones that don't want too much excitement, but still want to feel like they are getting the full underwater experience.

Alternatively, why not try Wild Wild Wet at 1 Pasir Ris Close? There you can challenge the kids to a race on the Kraken multi-slide, or test your own mettle on the incredibly fast Vortex. The whole family can ride together on the Ular-Lah white water raft flume. There's even a large swimming pool with a wave machine and for parents that are feeling a little exhausted a lovely jacuzzi as well.

Zoo

Most major cities have a zoo, but the Zoo in Singapore is probably unlike anything else that you or your children have previously experienced. They are really big on interactive experiences with the animals and opportunities include dinner with an animal meet and greet, or even stay in the zoo in a glamping tent overnight.

The night walk Rainforest Luminaire is also an experience that you won't want to miss. Add to that some impressive and rare animals such as orangutans (who you can have breakfast with) as well as lions, and as some pretty amazing primates like cotton-top tamarins, and the whole family are bound to have an unforgettable time.

Universal Studios Singapore

Lastly, when visiting Singapore with kids it's great to visit the hugely popular and enjoyable Universal Studios. It will appeal to families with kids of all ages with rides for little ones like Enchanted Airways, Magic Potion Spin or meeting Elmo and their favourite Minions from the Despicable Me films. Older children and those that are still kids are heart can ride Revenge of The Mummy and the Battlestar Galactica Coaster.

Once again the focus here is more interactive than you may expect, so as well as roller coasters the kids can also have a go at climbing and abseiling walls, drive a car through an Egyptian archaeological dig, and even experience King Julian's (from the film Madagascar) river boat ride!

The fun doesn't stop there either, as there are plenty of kid-friendly shows to keep them entertained as well including 4D Shrek adventures, and the chance to meet the Autobots from Transformers, and even a baby dinosaur!

You might just find that Singapore isn't just a great holiday, but could be a holiday that creates memories that will stay with them forever!
